Concept Maps are meta-cognitive tools that give students awareness towards the process of learning and allow the representation of knowledge structures in thematic fields.
At its heart is a central topic of the chapter. This is then explored by means of branches representing main ideas, which connect to this central idea.
Why use concept map?
For Students - Students can use it as a tool for effective revision of the content. Through a concept map both the LEFT BRAIN and RIGHT BRAIN can be put to use.
For Teachers - As a teaching support, concept maps are helpful as they permit the establishment of networks of concepts that originate from a central concept in a coherent, structured and integrated manner, guiding the sequence of teaching. They can also be used for curriculum planning.
