Get in the spring mood with: Spring words

The Spring Words activity is a language activity that actually contains four different activities that have one thing in common: they are all in the spirit of spring.

You can match first letters, rhyme with vowels, match images with words and determine the number of syllables. All in one activity: Spring Words.

Students might know that temperatures rise in the spring, but why that happens is another question. Why not kick off spring today by explaining to your students what spring is, why temperatures increase, and why the days become longer.

A challenging new activity from Gynzy is the Complete Shape Analogies activity. A mathematical equation using shapes is presented with a blank. The goal of the activity is to select the correct missing answer at the bottom. With this activity you can enhance the abstract reasoning capabilities of your students. How cool is that?

    Try it out yourself: http://r.gynzy.com/6fdc2704

The Vowel Consonant E rule is one of the most important tricks for reading. In this activity you can move words that end with a consonant under a magnifying glass and the silent E will be added. The words are accompanied with images so that students not only learn how to pronounce the word, but also gain a better understanding of its meaning.

Teach your students the correct subject-verb agreement and the pronoun choice in our latest language arts activity: Subject-verb and Pronoun-antecedent agreement. Under the 'settings' button you can choose which of the two you'd like to do. The activity consists of sentences with a blank and two options on the bottom from which you or your students can choose. You can use the 'check' button to see if the answer is correct.

'There' versus 'Their' is a typical mistake that students make. But that's just one example. There are many words that sound similar but are written differently. In the Frequently Confused Words activity you can teach your students the differences between those words. Why don't you invite your students to come to the board and try the activity themselves?

This week we released an exciting new activity that is created by the winner from our tool contest. It's called: Pick your Partner.

    http://r.gynzy.com/9a50b887

When we received Anna Riddle's submission for the tool contest we were thrilled immediately! Making groups in a classroom can be time consuming and it's not the most fun thing to do. Anna's activity makes forming a group a fun activity that students can do individually and in a fun way.

We named the activity: Pick your Partner. You have to provide the list of your students once and select the size of the groups. Then it's up to your students. A couple of students have to select their partner. Not by selecting their name, but by picking an image. This way you'll always have random groups and your students have fun in the process!

TIP: check out this short video tutorial on Pick your Partner on Youtube.

The Gallon Man is a great visualization for students to understand the customary system. It neatly displays how many quarts go in a gallon, how many pints go in a quart, and how many cups go in a pint. Under the settings button you'll find three ways to display the customary system
  • Gynzy's avatar
In the Customary System activity you can teach students how to convert larger units into smaller units and vice versa. You can work with units of volume, length and weight. Just tap the two units in the direction you'd like to convert and the activity will show you which factor you need to use.

What the seasons are and what kind of weather is associated with them is known to most students. What causes the seasons in the first place is a lot harder to grasp. In The Four Seasons animation, the cause of the seasons is visually explained. You can pause the animation at any time to provide more explanation to your students.

Why and how do we see, hear, smell, taste and feel? In this 2-minute animation the five senses are visually explained. You can pause the animation at any time to recap or explain a sense further. Give The Five Senses a try.
