I appreciate Socrative 1.0 and 2.0 very much and considered purchasing the Edmodo app. I was holding out in the hopes that the Edmodo app would soon be upgraded to 2.0 and, while I am not holding my breath, a price drop would be nice too. I have noticed that the Edmodo Socrative app is no longer listed in the Edmodo app store. Is it gone for good? Is it only temporarily unavailable? Thank you for your help and for providing a great product!

Is there a plan for converting the Edmodo Socrative app to version 2.0? I would love that! Thanks...
  • Mr. Richardson's avatar
I appreciated the improvements introduced when 2.0 was released and, despite of all the complaints I read about the awesome and free tools Socrative provides, have continued to use beta.socrative.com ever since with great success. Is there any time frame in mind to map the iOS apps to the beta version? Thank you.

Hi, is anyone experiencing any problems with the socrative app in general (not the app for linking to edmodo). When I set a test I have noticed that the students are asked to log in and it lets them put the room number in and their name but then the options are finish and log out or let another student take the test, it does not let them in to see the questions?
    • Ms. Maynard - If you go to socrative.com and email them (under the "contact us" tab, I've had good luck with them getting back to me pretty fast.

    • Ms. Mc Donnell - Thanks, have just tried it after your advice, so fingers crossed, Thanks again

I'm afraid I think this is massively overpriced. While I'm happy to pay a small amount for the pleasure of integrating with Edmodo, I'd rather create my own Quizzes (or use the socrative website) rather than fork out for this.
    • Mr. McKenzie - Absolutely agree ... I'm off to do the same thing!

      • Jan 30, 2014
    • Mr. Harvey - in full agreement. Would not be so bad if it was per school. Will not be purchasing.

I'm interested in using this on edmodo & am willing to pay the $19.99 for the group... but because my "group" has all 115 of my HS students in it it is telling me that I'd need to purchase another 85 seats!?! Why is this so much if I'm only using 20-25 per period!
    • Mrs. Jackson - I, too, am wondering why I would pay so much for the app when use of the site is free.

created a quiz today and used short answers, when students answered the quiz they were marked as wrong, even though the key words were in the answer. What did i do wrong? As kids got very frustrated being told they had wrong answer when clearly was correct.
    • Mrs. Frye - The same happened to my students. For short answers, the students have to type the answer exactly as you typed it. To ease the students frustration, I sent an alert to inform them I would review each of their quizzes and adjust the quiz accordingly. It took a lot of time, but I couldn't think of anything else to do. I wrote their adjusted grade in the comment section of the final question.

Ik would like to use Socrative in my Edmodo classes. Altough there is a nice flip explaining Graded Short answers and gradebook Integration, I can't find the Socrative app to make everything possible. Does anybody know how to get/find this app.? Thanks!
    • Sandy King - You're right. Paid apps are not available for users outside of the USA. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience and hope that it changes soon. You could still use the web version though.

      • Mrs. Gervais - Socrative is also available as an app for smart phones on the iTunes and Google Play stores, though I am also in the USA and don't know if this is true outside.

      • Ale Hansma - Thank you both. I already use Socrative on the digiboard. Marvellous.
I hoped to make the connection between Edmodo, Gradebook and Socrative. A pitty, but thanks again for your answers.

What is the advantage of using Socrative when Edmodo can grade multiple choice questions as well? How do you use Socrative that you can't do with Edmodo? I used Edmodo last year with a pilot version of class ipads, but this year we have access to class notebooks. Trying to figure out the best way to manage our technology learning.

    Thanks for sharing!
    • Mr. Booth - i use socrative a lot. just about everyday. Its great for reviewing the previous days lessons or using the exit ticket to check feedback

      • Mr. Hamilton - I use a mixture of platforms, half on PCs and half on their phones (I have 20 PCs and 30 students!)

      • Mrs. Woloszyn - Thanks, we tried a warm-up to check the last couple day's lessons and it was a learning experience for sure! HAd to remind them it was a MATH test, not a GUESS test! My little 5th graders forget that taking a test on the computer does not mean you don't have to show work! I think I will like having the ability to do some quick quizzes for warm-ups. I'll have to check out the exit ticket as well. Thanks!

I have 3 different Edmodo Groups that I am interested in using Socrative with. I would be interested in purchasing the app so that my edmodo gradebook is automatically synced with socrative scores. However, if I assign a quiz for homework through socrative in one room and the max is 50 students-would it work? Each group has 30 students.
    • Mrs. Lanik - Honestly, I'm not 100% sure, but whenever I have to do school-wide voting for the administrators, I use Google forms or Wufoo. I'm digging more Wufoo lately, but it might be because its something different than google. Then, I embed the poll into Edmodo.

      • Mrs. Schwartz - The 50 person limit will limit me from buying the Edmodo app for socrative and assigning so creative for homework. I have 100+ students.

        • Aug 14, 2013
      • Mr. Yanes - The 50-person limit means the app will only register 50 responses per activity. You can run that activity multiple times for multiple classes. For example, I have 90 AP students total (~30 in each class period). As long as I end the activity in the previous class, I can run it again and get another set of responses. This is how I handled reading quizzes in my class last year.
This app isn't really suited for mass polling (like a school-wide vote). It is meant to be used in individual classrooms.
I hope this clears things up about the limits!

      • Mrs. Curls - Why is Socrative $19.99 here when I signed up for an account for free last week?

        • Aug 9, 2013
      • Mrs. Brabant - You probably signed up for a Socrative account for free on the Socrative website. It is $19.99 to use it through Edmodo. My students can open a new tab and use socrative for free, I'm not paying $19.99 per group.

        • Aug 11, 2013
    • Ms. Edmunson - I believe that the difference is that it doesn't integrate with your Edmodo gradebook if it is not linked. You'll have to input the grades manually.

I used Socrative a lot last year and my students loved it! I got the edmodo app this year so it would be easier for me to track their progress. However, I'm not sure how student log in works? Do they log into Edmodo? Socrative? Does Socrative have a database for my students? Can they still use their phones to answer the questions? Do I make a class in Socrative?

Basically I need a manual. Haha, I apologize for all the questions I just want to use the app right out of the door so my students get use to it.
    • Joanne Santanello - a two minute exit is a not a full length feature...they still get into to trouble with phones doing this... when we are not the ap college bound hard core students...

      • Mr. Stein - Huh?

        • Aug 8, 2013
      • Mr. Yanes - I don't use the Socrative app within Edmodo. I just can't justify paying $19/class just to have it import scores to the Edmodo gradebook (our district uses an online gradebook anyway).
I use the free version. No student lists required, just set up a room code in your profile settings (I use my classroom number). Students sign in that way. Since I have to have a computer or device running the activity, I use that to maintain student engagement and cut down on distractions. I should mention that I run the activity on my iPad so that I can still walk around the room.
