I would like some information for next year with spelling city and edmodo. I am going to begin using edmodo for assigments and test next year and want to be able to link spelling city to it. My students love it. So how do I do this for next year. We will be getting our budget in about 6 weeks
    • Mrs. Sparks - I use the assignments as homework choices. Because I assign specific activities (up to 10 are allowed), they come directly into my gradebook for those chose those activities. It is a really nice feature.

      • Mrs. Dunham - I also assign Spelling City premium as homework. I post the assignments on Friday for the next week and set a due date for the following Thursday. Students complete them entirely as homework and take the test at school on Friday. It sounds like the Edmodo app sends the assignments to the Edmodo gradebook, right? Does it show on Edmodo that the assignments are completed also? Thank you for your insight.

      • VocabularySpellingCity - Hi Ms. Tuncer,
You will need to purchase the VocabularySpellingCity app through the Edmodo Store. You can purchase a classroom of 30 students for $49.99 (you can purchase additional student licenses if needed).
You and your students need to make sure you are launching the VocabularySpellingCity app through your Edmodo accounts to ensure the assignments and test results record properly and appear in your gradebook.
Thank you Mr. Warkentin for your response to these questions :)

1 - If I use Edmodo to purchase my Spelling City account, can I still use the code Spelling City sent me that will add 2 extra months of Spelling City for free? (basically, I could start using it now, for the end of the year, and still have the account for all of next year)

      • Mrs. Musa - Help! My Spelling City App was taken away from me and my Word Study Group! I had 36 licenses that expired in March, BUT I had paid for at least 20 additional licenses this year that had not expired yet. I should still have access to the licences that I purchased this year. Please help me get the app back for the licenses that I have paid for this year.

    • VocabularySpellingCity - Hi Mrs. Musa,
I have reviewed your account and it appears that you have 89 active licenses with VocabularySpellingCity purchased through the Edmodo store.
59 licenses will expire on 09/23/2014, the other 30 licenses will expire on 01/23/2015.
Please contact Edmodo support to inquire why your VocabularySpellingCity app has been removed from your Edmodo account as your account is active and in good standing.

3 - I noticed it is $50 for 25 kids through Spelling City and $50 for 30 kids if I get Spelling City through Edmodo. True?

4 - What will I be able to do if I purchase Spelling City through Edmodo, that I can't do if I don't purchase through Edmodo?

    Hi there!

I am having issues with my accounts today. Students can log-in and see the test assignment, but the test will not open. In some cases, students are being assigned grades without being able to actually take the test. I've had to find another online test today for them, and wrote to VSC through your contact page. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I want to switch from paper spelling tests to using VSC for the end of week tests, and practice tests for those students that need it. However, a barrier is headphones. I think that it would make it much better for students that need to listen to the words more carefully if they could play it with the volume all the way up.

Do any of you have any suggestions for headphones I could purchase, along with how I might efficiently store them?
    • VocabularySpellingCity - Hi Mr. Warkentin,
Thank you for your interest in VocabularySpellingCity as well as providing your feedback.
I would check with your school's tech personnel to see if they possibly have headphones or earbuds for you to use.
You can also ask your students to bring in their own headphones/earbuds from home so you will not have to make a purchase.
Ms. McCollum provided a great response to your question. If you must purchase new headphones/earbuds for your students, eBay or Amazon would be a great place to start.
I too would have the students store

Hello; I have a premium account to SpellingCity both through SpellingCity.com and Edmodo.com (Yeah, I forgot to cancel the SpellingCity one in time, DARN IT!). We are a 1-1 iPad 3rd-grade class, and the students complete their assignments on their iPads.

My issue is that I do not see any results at all in Edmodo. This leads me to believe that the students results might not be recorded in Edmodo unless they access SpellingCity through Edmodo - if they use their iPads (where it is impossible to open SpellingCity through Edmodo) their results will not be recorded. Is this correct?

Can I get some feedback on this dilemma? Thank you everyone in advance!

      • VocabularySpellingCity - We were in communication with Edmodo concerning this issue and did not receive a response from our support contact. This delayed our response time as we were requesting information regarding the application error. Once we were able to replicate the error, our engineers were then able to resolve the issue.

Since students are graded on completing those assignments I hoping that this issue can be resolved to his work will be saved and reported.

If a student completes an activity outside of the assignment, it will not register as completed on the assignment progress page. Students often log in to their account, locate a word list and then play the games, this will not register as completed in the assignment section.
The student must log in to their student account and click on the assignment name in the green Assignments Due table, and then click on the the first activity name. The activity must by completed fully in order to register as complete in our system and before advancing

My students aren't required to complete the activities in the assigned order so he is definitely able to complete the majority of them without issue- the system just isn't tracking the progress.
