If you're working on hardware projects or streaming data, you can use Plotly for streaming data to a graph from an Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Here's a Raspberry Pi example. Check out plot.ly/api/Arduino for more.
You can also use Plotly for social studies or civics, for projects like this to display public data from the Sunlight Foundation, Data.gov, or Plotly.
If you like sports and stats, you can use Plotly to design and style graphs about topics of interest, and also use Plotly to make fits for your data. Here's an example.
You can use Plotly to make fits for you data and check the R^2, run custom functions, run a T-test, use stats, and make and style beautiful graphs. The attached screenshot shows our datagrid.
