My name is John Houpt and I have been teaching Physical Education and Health for 9 years. I was also awarded Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014. I was also the Defensive Coordinator for the Bluffton High School football team for the past 6 years. In addition to football I have coached both Men and Women's high school basketball. I personally enjoy working out and playing sports such as football, basketball, golf, and tennis. I do these activities because I enjoy them, but also because I believe that physical activity is an important part of an individual's life. No matter who you are every person should participate in at least one of the following physical activities: team sports, individual sports, or personal fitness. It is because of this statement that I became a Physical Education teacher. While in my class I want to help my students find at least one activity that they enjoy to help them become a healthier and happier individual!
