In my previous role with within OCPS, I served as a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Coordinator . In this role, I provided support to PK-12 teachers on STEM integration in core content areas.
STEM integration support areas include:
- frequency and quality of interdisciplinary curriculum
- frequency and quality of problem-based learning
- STEM Professional Learning Communities
- STEM competitions and clubs
- Student collaboration in STEM
- Targeting under-represented students groups through STEM
- Integrated technology in STEM curriculum
I also coordinated the National Science Foundation Scale-Up Grant: Promoting Science in English Language Learners (P-SELL) managed through New York University. This grant targets twenty-elementary elementary schools across five learning communities in an effort to increase student achievement in science.
Outside of OCPS, I am privileged to participate in the state-led effort to develop the Next Generation Science Standards as a writing team member.
