About Mrs. Melissa Fontaine

I grew up in Massachusetts, near Rhode Island, and attended Bridgewater State College for my undergraduate degree. I majored in History with a minor in Secondary Education. I have been teaching at Silver Lake Regional High School in the Social Studies Department since 2006 and currently teach Modern World History and AP European History. In addition to being a teacher, I am the Social Studies Department Chairperson, I co-advise the yearbook and I am the advisor for the Class of 2017. I am also an assistant track and field coach and help out with the cross country team. I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching/History from Bridgewater State University in 2011. I am currently enrolled in the CAGS program in Educational Leadership for High School Administration at Bridgewater State University which I expect to finish in May 2015. I have earned licenses in the State of MA in History grades 5-12 and Principal/Assistant Principal 9-12. I enjoy spending my time outside of school running, reading and discussing books with my book club, cooking/baking, camping (especially in Vermont) and traveling to Europe. I’ve been to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy (where I took classes at the University of Florence in 2005.) I am so very proud to be a "Laker" and can’t wait to get to know each of you!
