I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but I was raised in Alamo, Nevada. Putting this in perspective, it is a valley composed of half the number of new teachers hired in the CCSD for the school year 2013-2014.
I was a two sport athlete in high school. I won 2 Nevada state wrestling championships and was State runner-up once. I was also a National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Academic All-American. I Was a 1st team All-Conference baseball player all four years of high school, League MVP, and a member of the school's first baseball state championship, as well as being a member of a state runner-up team. I was a member of two Academic Olympic teams, one of which won the Nevada state title. I graduated with honors and earned a 3.8gpa.
I wrestled Division 1 for a year in college at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I then moved to California to pursue my dream of playing college baseball, and I played 2 1/2 years at Barstow Junior College before I tore my labrum twice.
I have been married and divorced, but I don't regret any of it now. I was able to help raise two wonderful children for over 3 years, Eric and Lily, from the time they were each 10 months and 2 years old. My only heartache now is that I am unable to see the children, so I send them gifts for holidays and birthdays instead.
During that time I substitute taught and coached elementary-high school baseball and wrestling with my dad. I coached 1 state champion wrestler and a number of state placers, as well as 4 consecutive baseball state championships, making me a member of all 5 state championships at my school and winning all 4 years that I coached. It was quite a thrill. More than the championships though, I developed a countless number of relationships I will cherish and hold onto for as long as I live.
I also finished my bachelor's degree at the University of Phoenix, completing my student teaching at my hometown's school teaching 4th grade, the grade which I am now teaching.
I recently moved back to Vegas to teach, obviously ha-ha, and am also coaching at the Las Vegas Baseball Academy. I am also continuing a relationship with a wonderful, extremely important woman in my life who has 3 children, Chloe (13 years old), Bella (6 years old), and Valentino (soon to be 5 years old). We are moving in with each other less than a 1/2 mile from my school.
I am extremely happy and excited right now, and I feel extremely blessed. The path I have taken to this point has not been an easy one. I have made many mistakes and suffered many setbacks and consequences. Somehow I made it through and have learned from my mistakes. It is because of this road though, that I am where I am now. I look forward to teaching and am feeling very confident and excited to be starting this new chapter of my life. I have no intentions on looking back and having any more major setbacks because of my actions and look forward to using my experiences in order to help my students and everyone around become stronger, smarter, and more well- rounded.
Good luck to me :)
