About Me

I was born on Long Island, N.Y. (YANKEES Fan!!) and I moved to N.C. in my late teens. I have 3 children (all boys), 3 cats and a wonderful, loving husband. I enjoy river / ocean kayaking and swimming with my children, taking long walks and going fishing with my husband (salt or fresh water fishing) and our whole family is involved in music in some way (we are members of our church's choir and my children play trumpet in our school's band). Our family likes to travel; we went to see the Mayan ruins in Belize two years ago and my youngest son and I went to Italy and France with our school in June, 2012. I majored in K-12 music education (East Carolina University - "GO PIRATES") and minored in classical alto saxophone performance. I love to read, enjoy history, trivia, learning about other languages and cultures, internet research, technology and I truly enjoy working with students of any age - especially our school's special population:-) I am currently working in the field of virtual education (9 - 12th grade) because the environment is not static - it is dynamic, rich in technology and encompasses a wide variety of academic content (including The Arts and several World Languages). I am very excited about using Edmodo because of the numerous opportunities we have as educators to collaborate and share resources with other teachers from around the world. So very cool:-)
