About Ms. Sharyn Mehner

As a high school American Studies and journalism teacher I gravitated naturally to the technological resources available in education. I saw the level of interest relevant media generated in students, and the knowledge students gained from having authentic learning opportunities through their publishing and public performances. With 13 years of high school classsroom teaching experience, I moved to Northshore in 2004, and transitioned into the world of instructional technology. In my role as an Instructional Technology Coordinator/Coach, I assisted teachers and students with effective uses of technological tools (software, computers, projectors, document cameras, and other devices). Now, I continue to enjoy helping my colleagues find new approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners. Helping to make learning more meaningful and engaging is my ultimate goal.

I am very interested in Web 2.0 technologies and how they have been transforming the delivery of information - blogs, podcasts, RSS, social news, wikis. I am specifically interested in the impact of these changes on the news media and education. Digital Decorum and Citizenship has become an absolute must!

I'm excited for my next journey as an assistant principal for Bothell High School, where I will be working directly with one learning community, focusing our attention on learning and success for all students.
