I teach 6th and 7th graders and absolutely love this age group. I teach a hybrid class called Discoveries. It is for our identified GT students that "sort of" combines their LA and SS TEKS into a humanities type program. 6th grade SS in Texas is Contemporary World Cultures while 7th grade in Texas is (what else?) Texas History. Since we are an advanced level class, I incorporate alot of PAP strategies and alot of DBQ writing in order to introduce and prepare my students for high school PAP/AP/ and honors classes. One of my co-teachers introduced me to Edmodo several years ago and I absolutely fell in love. I love the technology aspect, but being able to upload assignments, text students,and student upload their assignments,etc. is great - not to mention the collaboration I have found here. The teachers here are so willing to share and teach each other I am inspired every day. Recently, I was awarded a digital classroom which means my class utilizes 1 : 1 iPads and Edmodo fits perfectly into that format!
