Mrs. Thurston to Motion Math

I have been working on number talks with my kindergartners. I have used rekenreks, dot cards, and ten frames. Any other ideas for these talks? Thanks!

  Base ten blocks are a great manipulative. We have two iPad apps that are appropriate for kindergarteners: Motion Math: Hungry Guppy and Motion Math: Zoom. Let us know how your activities go!

- Motion Math - Dreambox has some research-based online curricula for Kindergarten you might want to check out. Hooda math on Edmodo is also very popular.

Any idea when edmodo math apps will be available? My 7th graders need apps that will do more than check the final answer as right or wrong. It would be great if the apps had students working on the steps towards getting the final answer. Either the app would show the steps or have students fill in blanks that would complete the steps. Also, an "affordable" app (really affordable = free) would be awesome. I am spent out. :-(
