    • HeyMath! - Hi Mrs. Branch! Yes we have a lot of videos for Middle School Area & Perimeter - rather than listing them all I have uploaded a google doc in our collections page (called Area & Perimeter) which shows you screenshots of the lesson tree you get in each year - you can see the lesson resources we have in grades 6 and 7 (and some in 8) for area and perimeter. Our lessons all contain an animated introduction, examples and practice questions and some contains activities, games, tools or worksheets! We have over a thousand of these for the US curriculum.

I haven't had time to review many of the videos from HeyMath. Are these lessons appropriate for middle school math or more for high school math?
    • Ms. Delph - Absolutely! It seems you can find both middle school and high school materials in this community.

      • Mrs. Branch - They can be adapted to middle school students.

        • Mar 19, 2013
    • HeyMath! - Hi Mrs. Pruett! Yes our lesson package is definitely suitable for middle school. We have over a thousand animated resources, containing (at a minimum) an animated introduction to a concept, worked examples and a "check your understanding" section. We also have activities, tools and worksheets integrated into the package. Our coverage of the US curriculum is excellent for grades 6-10, and we also have a lot of material for lower school and grades 11-12. Do let me know if you'd like to register for a trial account!

I am looking to create an AP Statistics group for teachers of AP Statistics. I cannot determine any other way to communicate with everyone other then to post here. If you would like to join the group, use code yo7bkz. Thank you and hope we can exchange some great ideas!
    • Ms. Richards - I tried to join, but it says the code is invalid.

Need some ideas for a Fibbonacci Sequence/Golden Spiral independent study. I have students who are well beyond the parameters of my curriculum, and would like to challenge them without taking them a year beyond our curriculum.
    • Ms. Xenakis - about what competence level are you talking?
you might watch Vi Hart's spiral videos (on khan academy) -- she talks about the fibonacci numbers found in the spirals of plants and fruits. this is less academic.
there are more academic investigations at wolfram -- http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/GeometricAn...

    • HeyMath! - Hi Mrs. Valek! We have a lot of animated lessons that we think would help engage your students. Did you get a chance to look at our Collection? I have just uploaded a new pdf (activities.pdf) that shows just a few of our activities that you might find interesting. Is anybody using Heymath that can describe if there are any assessments to accompany the video? I read on the website that there is a pool of questions but I did not see any sample questions following the demo videos on the HeyMath website. I am considering purchasing an annual subscription.
    • HeyMath! - Hi Mrs. Caraway! We have a question bank consisting of many tens of thousands of questions, all tagged to the appropriate curriculum (Singapore, USA, India). It contains ready-made tests, as well as the functionality to allow you to browse questions and create your own tests. You can also enter your own questions using our question creation tool. The tests can then be issued as online tests at a set time and date. Could you let me know your location (is it the USA?) and I will forward your question to the relevant team - they will be happy to get back to you with all the more...

      • Mrs. Caraway - I'm in the US. Are those questions separate from the WizPool. I don't want to be responsible for the whole school so that I can get access.

        • Sep 25, 2012
      • HeyMath! - Yes there are questions separate from Wizpool. You can access them through an id and password. They are arranged by grade, topic and sub-topic. Which grades do you teach?

      • Mrs. Caraway - Thanks!!!!

        • Sep 27, 2012
      • Mrs. Caraway - My login is working my students really like the videos. Especially the real world connections in them. However, I am still unsure how to access the questions for the videos.

        • Oct 3, 2012
      • HeyMath! - Great to hear that your students like the videos! There are practice questions within the videos which are usually featured as the last drop down in the lesson (see drop downs on the top right corner). However, they are not interactive and have answer keys- rather than provide online & immediate feedback. It might be a good idea to set up some time to talk you through our question bank and other online assessment features. These features are outside of the videos. Hope this isn't confusing!

    • HeyMath! - Hi Mrs. Caraway!
Regarding your request for materials for the ADDvocacy project - we have added four more lessons to our Collection that we hope might be useful to spark off some ideas relating to maths and global issues.
They are: Compound Bar Graphs, Linear Regression, Quadratic Regression and Population pyamids, and they are the first four links in our Collection.
They give examples ranging from climate change to demographics and each explains how a particular area of math helps in a real-world situation. Hope you find them useful, let us know if they
