Saw this guy at an AP conference a few years ago. Songs are more folk style but catchy, and the corresponding ppts helped my students get into the APUSH content. HistoryTunes - FYI the price at iTunes is $9.99 for ALL 50 songs which is 20 cents per song AND the accompanying resources are FREE at http://www.historytunes.com and include for EACH of the 50 songs: 1) topic synopsis 2) lyric sheet with bold vocab 3) all vocab and definitions 4) leveled question for 3 levels of learners 5) test prep.

HistoryTunes is a collection of 50 pop/rock songs that cover the entire US History curriculum from the pre-colonial era to present day. The creation of the package is based on careful analysis of ten years of standardized test questions and national social studies standards. Our goal at HistoryTunes is to help students pass high stake exams. The songs are highly melodic and catchy with strong rock/pop sounds and the lyrics are packed with content high school students need to pass state tests. The songs are meant to be used in conjunction with our website which is a free resource. At our site each individual song is linked to a general synopsis, an image, customized tiered questions leveled for differentiation, the lyrics with embedded interactive vocabulary, and test prep questions which include multiple choice, DBQ and thematic essay practice.
