Ms Satkowski. I am having trouble getting started. I am working from an iPad. Is that the issue? Is there a guide. I was asked to give access at the beginning to something I don't have. You have a great idea I would like to use. Thanks.- Jan 27, 2013

Ms. Satkowski - I am trying to use an application called Story Line. I thought I was contacting the publishers for help. Sorry, Mr. Sherman

Mr. Sherman - What is story line?

Root-1 - Mrs. Satkowski: thanks for giving us a heads up. I am the developer for StoryLines for Schools and I would like to help resolve your issues, but I need more information. Rather than communicating via Edmodo, could we use email? You can reach me at doug@root-1.com.

Some questions/comments:
* There are two StoryLines products: StoryLines and StoryLines for Schools. If you are using it for the classroom you should use the latter, as that allows you to control content, and limit interactions to students within your class (the 'not-for-schools' version of StoryLines has an All-Play feature where students might encounter inappropriate content from other, non-school users).
Q: Are you using StoryLines or StoryLines for Schools.
* StoryLines for Schools (henceforth SLFS) can be accessed in three different ways: different ways:
1. You can install it as an App in Edmodo.
2. You can use a browser to navigate to slfs.root-1.com.
3. You can get the free iPad App from iTunes.
Of these 3, note that items 2 and 3 do not involve Edmodo at all.
For reasons I won't go into here (but would happily discuss if you want details), on an iPad we only support item 3: you cannot use SLFS in a browser on an iPad, you must use the standalone App from iTunes.
Q: Which of the above methods are you using to access SLFS?
Hope to hear from you (and once again it would be much easier for me if we could communicate via email).
Doug

New to Edmodo. I am in need of more effective, interactive Middle School and Algegra web sites. Can anyone suggest a few?- Oct 26, 2012
-
Mr. Storey - BuzzMath.com is a great tool that I use in my classroom to reinforce and enrich topics we've learned in class. It's geared towards grades 6-8. There's an Edmodo App, iPad App, and the website. It's slightly pricey, but if your school is willing to foot the bill, it's totally worth it!

CALLING ALL BEGINNING TEACHERS!!!!!!!!
I created this group called Beginning Teachers. It is aimed as a platform for beginning teachers to help each other out, chat to each other and swap resources.
Please feel free to invite other beginning teachers (approximately 0-5 years experience.) We currently have members of the group with 6 and 7 years experience, so we are not very strict on experience! Also if you have twitter/other social networks, feel free to pass on the message. The more, the merrier!!
I thought it would be a good platform to help each other out. The Join URL is:

Bonjour tout le monde,
I am a French and Irish teacher in Ireland. I have been teaching for almost fourteen years now. I am currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Education and my research question is as follows:
How can Edmodo enhance teaching and learning in a post-primary (secondary) level school?
My embedded questions are as follows:
1. How does Edmodo shape or influence classroom practices?
2. How can Edmodo help motivate students to learn?
3. How does Edmodo and its features enhance or inhibit the work of teachers’?
I would love to hear get some feedback and information from teachers across the globe about how they feel Edmodo can benefit their teaching. Also have you changed your teaching methodologies because of using Edmodo and if so, how and what did you change?
I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer some of my questions. Any feedback would be very beneficial to my research.
Many thanks in advance for your help!Bonjour tout le monde,Show Full Post Show Less

Beatriz Gaibisso - Estimada colega.
Saludos

Ms. Hoeweler - The big push in our district (Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada) is Online/Blended Learning and Edmodo fits in perfectly.
Ms. Hoeweler - The big push in our district (Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada) is Online/Blended Learning and Edmodo fits in perfectly.
I have been using it for 3 years now, first in an English class and now for 2 years teaching computer literacy.
I put all my lesson plans for each day on Edmodo (student friendly form) and attached all the worksheets, powerpoints, tutorials, links to websites, etc. that they will need to complete each lesson. When a student is out, they can access Edmodo from home and stay current, if they wish. Students also like the fact that they can email me from home. I have had students email me that they are sick or need to go out of town for an emergency, etc. It makes us feel more like a community and not teacher vs students.
When I first began scanning in documents into the library, it seemed overwhelming, but now that it's done, it's awesome that I have everything in one place, organized by topic.
I also love the face that if I am going to be absent, I send my students lessons, with all the info. from home. All the substitute teachers I have had to have love the fact that the students know what they are suppose to do and there is no confusion about assignments.
I hope my comments have helped you.

Vocabulary and language learning through mini games.
Kindergarten - 8th

Mrs. Bova - I am intrigued by your phrase "learning is not fractured." I have believed that for ever and hope that the move toward core will justify my subliminal messages that I have been beaming out to kiddos for years... connected learning sticks... fractured learning is just that... never to be whole again... sentenced to an extremely black hole.
