    is Turnitin a free software?
    • Mr. Jatovsky - No it is not. Licenses are sold to schools, and then individual teachers can use the software.

    • Ms. Thomassie - And it's expensive. But worth it.

I am using Turnitin GradeMark and using the voice comment option to give student feedback.
Is there anyway I can download the report and sent it to the student and have the voice comments included?
I can't see a way that the students can access the voice comments apart from logging in to Turnitin.

Loved the entries for the poster contest this year. Will there be a chance for classroom teachers to purchase any of these for display?

Does anyone have any resources related to note-taking skills?

I have never tried turnitin before. Is it easy to use? Do my students need to do anything different when writing their papers? Thanks for your help!
    • Turnitin - Students won't need to do anything different when writing their papers (except maybe stop copying and pasting). They'd submit their papers directly to Turnitin in .Doc, .PDF, or any other digital format. No hand-written papers.

My students are about to learn how to write a research paper and last year, no matter how hard I tried, I still managed to have kids confused about how to cite (yes, even after using Easybib). Do you have any sources you recommend for when students are first learning to cite sources that aren't their own?
    • Turnitin - We have an educational resource site, http://plagiarism.org with some very accessible tips on plagiarism, citation, and other writing tips. The Purdue OWL is also a good resource.

Allowing students to submit each draft multiple times before the due date helps them foster the development of their own writing. Check out this blog post to see how.

I have an iPad and would love to use the Grademark feature, but it does not work on a tablet. Are there any options for tablet users to use Grademark?
    • Turnitin - We have an iPad App in development that should be out late Spring. Hopefully in time to grade that last batch of papers.

    • Turnitin - At this time there does not look to be a Turnitin-Edmodo integration in active development though it has been discussed between both parties. Sorry!

Hi everyone, how to use this turnitin?
    • Mr. Jatovsky - Your educational institution must purchase Turnitin. Then you can create an account for turning in student papers.

I am working on a proposal to bring turnitin.com to our campus. In order to get anything in our district, we have to explain how the resource will produce campus data. What features does turnitin.com have to produce data for the teacher and administrators?
    • Turnitin - Some of the data that can be accessed at the campus or district level include:
      - the number of students and instructors using Turnitin
      - # of submissions, OriginalityCheck reports, papers graded/marked, peer reviews, discussion topics.
      - Breakdown of overall similarity % (0%, 1-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-100%)
There will soon be the ability to report on data around standardized rubrics. Rubrics can be shared by an administrator so all instructors of a specific topic can use the same rubric and see in aggregate, how students are performing on various aspects.

Got a case of the Mondays? Enjoy this fun little parody music video:

That I'll write in red onto the side of his neatly written essay -- "plagiarized,"
Mark my grade there too as a letter "D."
I took a detention referral on which to write,
"Stay at school for four more hours...."
Maybe next time he'll think, before he cheats....
    • Mrs. Mass - LOVE it! I subscribed to their channel! The AP one is hilarious, too!
