Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Naiku releases two new features to their popular web-based student response system Quick Question. This free on-line formative assessment tool now allows teachers to 1) create questions on the fly in Quick Question and 2) save the data from the session for later viewing.

Click on the link to read more about it.

Did you know that you can easily restrict student access to the test questions after they complete the test?

There are multiple ways to do this in Naiku. But the quickest way is to select “Restrict Student Access” under the Actions menu. This will prevent students from going into the test to see the test questions. You may want to do this if you don’t want students to share test questions with students from another class whom have yet to take the test.

I posted this to the Naiku forum too, but I would like it if all assigned assessments would appear under the assessments tab, not just the ones I created.

This way, if I assign a small group of students an assessment that a fellow teacher created, i can more easily find the assessment to score it. Currently I have to search for the assessment and then click on the assessment assigned to my name. It just seems like an extra step that could be eliminated...just a thought.
    • Naiku, Inc. - Hi Catherine,
Thanks for the suggestion. We are working on making assessments easier to find and access. Hope to have some of these new features to you soon.
      Thanks for using Naiku.

Hey I have the same problem to but with only Internet Explorer. Works just fine with google chrome.

I have the app. When I open the app, it shows the Preparing Session Message and never proceeds beyond that.
    • Naiku, Inc. - Hi,
Currently, our Naiku Quick Question app does not work with the Edmodo iPad app. We do work on browsers. So if you login to Edmodo via a browser, that will work.
We are currently working on integrating it with the Edmodo iPad app.
      Thanks,
      Adisack

      • Mrs. Rech - I am using it from the web brower log in, not on an iPad app.

      • Naiku, Inc. - Can you let me know what browser you are using? What computer are you using? Thanks.

        • Oct 18, 2012
      • Mrs. Rech - Internet Explorer. A Dell running on window 7.

        • Oct 18, 2012
      • Naiku, Inc. - Do you have Firefox or Chrome? Can you tell those browsers?

        • Oct 18, 2012
      • Mrs. Rech - Firefox yields the same result.

        • Oct 18, 2012
      • Naiku, Inc. - Hmm. Wondering if your school has some special filters or blocking software that is preventing it from launching. In Firefox, can you go directly to this page: q.naiku.net.
Let me know if you can go to that page. Thanks.

        • Oct 18, 2012
      • Naiku, Inc. - Mrs. Rech.
Please try the Quick Question app now. We've updated it to fix some firewall issues there were with some schools. Please give it a try now and let me know how it works for you.
        Thanks.

    Quick Question Quick Tip #2

    Engaging Students Without a Projector

Did you know that you can easily share Quick Question class results with all of your students without the need for a projector? Whether working with a small group in class or all your students outside of class, simply press the Send Results button and the class results will be instantly sent to every student device, in addition to your screen. Note that students can’t identify individual answers – only the teacher can do that. So, the next time you need to break out a small group and check for understanding without projecting to the whole class, or are away from your projector, go ahead and use Quick Question!

    Additional tips

Interested in additional tips on how you can use your free Quick Question account? Visit http://www.naiku.net/QuickQuestion. And remember, if you like Quick Question, please share with other educators – they can sign up here for free too!

    Quick Question Quick Tip #1

How To Identify Individual Student Answers

Did you know that you can easily identify individual student answers when polling your students with Quick Question? It’s easy – simply hover your mouse over the answer selection, and a pop-up box will highlight all those students (or teachers if you are using in a staff meeting!) that have responded. See our blog for more information and for additional Quick Question Tips.

Our formative assessment tool Quick Question is now available for free in the Emodo App Store. If you haven't downloaded it yet, now is the time to do it. It's a great (and free) way to quickly engage your students through formative assessment.
    • Mr. Grindall - Stupid question, but I'm new to edmodo. How do I access the app store?
      Thanks!

      • Oct 29, 2012
    • Naiku, Inc. - The Edmodo Team has not given every user access to the App store yet. If you do have access, you will see Apps on the top left (right of the Edmodo logo).
Alternatively, if you would like to use Quick Question outside of Edmodo, you can sign up for a free account here: http://www.naiku.net.
      Thanks.

    CALLING ALL BEGINNING TEACHERS!!!!!!!!

I created this group called Beginning Teachers. It is aimed as a platform for beginning teachers to help each other out, chat to each other and swap resources.

Please feel free to invite other beginning teachers (approximately 0-5 years experience.) We currently have members of the group with 6 and 7 years experience, so we are not very strict on experience! Also if you have twitter/other social networks, feel free to pass on the message. The more, the merrier!!

I thought it would be a good platform to help each other out. The Join URL is:

    • Mrs. Ford - Thank you! If I have a Naiku question about adding students, where is the best place I should ask my question? Should I post on the Naiku forum even though it is school specific?

      • Jan 13, 2012
    • Naiku, Inc. - Catherine, if you think the answer to your question could be useful to other Naiku users, please post that to the Naiku Forum. I see you and Joel have started to do that.
