Will you be creating a 4mation software that can be used for creating lessons that does not require a yearly subscription, but can be purchased for use on the computer without the network or lessons? Sorry, but $125 a year is not realistic for this profession. Heck, even Microsoft Office is only a one time fee of $125!- Dec 18, 2012

4MAT About Learning - Hello Mr. Faculak! We used to have this available as a cd and, at that time, it was a one-time fee for the use of the software. We created it as a Filemaker application, and just shipped it out on a cd. Now, everyone is going to the online and our customers have required us to offer it in this way. Our regular price is $125 per teacher per year, but we do offer multi-year and multi-user discounts. We have some districts that purchase this for every teacher, so the cost to the teacher is fully paid for by the district. If you just want to purchase this on your own, please email me with how many at your organization are interested and how many years you would need access.

If you could also let me know what grade level you teach and what subject, I can try to find the best user domain for you to look at. You can also access some of our online assessments, that are very cool and include a way of assessing how you learn, how you teach and how you lead. It will create a profile that you can access and share on the web.- Jan 19, 2013

So, I have been a 4MAT believer for 12 years. What relationship does UDL have with 4MAT regarding differentiation related to Common Core? I mean, UDL is Why? What? How? All it is missing, for learners AND for Common Core is...What If???
I suppose my question is, has About Learning/4MAt had any input with UDL/Cast? Thanks!- Jun 27, 2012

4MAT About Learning - Hello Mrs. Karabinas!
4MAT About Learning - Hello Mrs. Karabinas!
Thanks for your nice comments about 4MAT. Yes it seems that lots of people miss the What If part of 4MAT, which is just so essential to the learning process. Bob Kegan said that students do not really learn until they make it to 11:59 on the 4MAT cycle. As you know, this is where the student must adapt learning into their own lives through their own creative adaptation.
No, we did not have any input with CAST or UDL, but we did do a comparison of this model to 4MAT that you can download from our web site. There are some similarities, but there are also some key differences between these models. We invite you to check this out at http://www.aboutlearning.com/files/4MATandUDL... I will also ask Dr. McCarthy to respond to your question as well.

CALLING ALL BEGINNING TEACHERS!!!!!!!!
I created this group called Beginning Teachers. It is aimed as a platform for beginning teachers to help each other out, chat to each other and swap resources.
Please feel free to invite other beginning teachers (approximately 0-5 years experience.) We currently have members of the group with 6 and 7 years experience, so we are not very strict on experience! Also if you have twitter/other social networks, feel free to pass on the message. The more, the merrier!!
I thought it would be a good platform to help each other out. The Join URL is:

Mr. Alford - Microsoft Office continually retires their software then you have to buy it again. OpenOffice.org is better and it's free! Just sayin'...
