Mrs. Leiser - My favorite book to teach symbolism, theme, and deeper characterization is Fahrenheit 451, but it takes a lot of pep to get the kids into it. I also show a couple interviews with Ray Bradbury ahead of time. He was one very interesting dude!

Hi all! This is such a neat community; I am looking forward to keeping up with the very latest in Easybib (which I LOVE!). I teach 7th grade, and not only do I want want my students to be able to cite their sources, I want them to understand the various components of their citations. Also I want them to be able to accurately verify the info Easybib comes up with when auto-citing. So I made up the sheet attached for students to fill out in the library when taking notes from a book. Here they document the identifying information from each book they use. Later they use the info to correctly cite the work on Easybib. I am still working on similar sheets for website and database citations. If anyone is interested, I will post those when I am finished!Hi all! This is such a neat community; I am looking forward to keeping up with the very latest in Easybib (which I LOVE!). What are some of the benefits of using the note card feature?- Mar 27, 2013
-
It helps if your school librarians are eager to assist teachers in the mastery of this program. Ours, for example, noted the importance of the 'far right tab' on the EasyBib homepage, which allows students to search a complete listing of all the different entries, , one of which allows students to copy and paste a complete entry that may have already been completed and then included at the bottom of that particular online resource.- Mar 26, 2013

when students use Easy Bib and Google Docs, how do you combine two records?- Mar 19, 2013
-
Mr. McAsh - EasyBib has the ability to export the student's "bibliography" (Works Cited if using MLA) to Google Docs. It's a great feature if you, like us, are a Google Apps EDU school.

We want students to be able to recognize the different parts of each citation so they can understand what is in a citation. We have students in 9th grade complete source cards for each source when conducting research where they have to look at the source and find the author, title, publisher, date, etc. When research is complete, students then enter their source card information manually into Easybib to create their works cited pages. After students can recognize the various parts of a citation, then we go over the short cuts. This is a handout that I created to give students when we start with Easybib. Thought I would share it with the community in case anyone would like to use it/edit it for their own purposes. We want students to be able to recognize the different parts of each citation so they can understand what is in a citation. I would like some suggestions on how to teach middle schoolers to correctly create a bibliography.- Feb 3, 2013
-
Mrs. Nixon - I use easybib. Our students all have gmail accounts. It is super easy to use easybib and have students save their work as a google doc.
- Feb 4, 2013
-
Mr. Knudsen - Noodle tool is a great way for them to organize their thoughts and arguments. Have a look at a couple of DIY webcasts.
- Feb 4, 2013
-
EasyBib - Mrs. Barros, if you are a school edition subscriber, your students will also have access to our LearnCite feature which tells students what kind of information they need to enter to create their citation. It also shows them where in the citation each data element belongs.
We also have a bunch of useful citation guides that you can share with your students here: http://content.easybib.com/students/citation-...- Feb 4, 2013

Hi, fellow Easy Bib users. As much as I love the Easy Bib tutorials, I am in need of something a bit simpler for use with lower-level sixth grade students. I only want to show them how to set up an account, use the manual and autocite features, and how to save and print a Works Cited page. They just can't handle any more at this point, so I don;t want to show them things they don't need now and won't be using just yet. Any suggestioins would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!- Sep 27, 2012

I have a personal EasyBib account but would like to share information with our administration about a possible school account. I can't find information on pricing anywhere on the site. Can someone share approximately what this will cost? If it's cost prohibitive I don't want to go crazy trying to sell it to others and I'll just use my personal account.- Aug 20, 2012

Ms. Oglivie - EBSCO Periodical and Gale Databases maybe be a better resource for teaching the how to and to assess if students can create correctly a bibliography.

Ms. Faust - Thank you Ms. Oglivie! But I don't think that's what I'm looking for. EasyBib seems to be more user friendly for my 9th graders. I've also used it in my undergraduate and graduate programs so I'm more familiar with it!

Ms. Cerni - Very reasonable depending upon school size. I think our site was less than one dollar per student for one year of premium access. Well worth it!

Ms. Davitz - I purchased a subscription for my middle school of 800 students last year and this year. It has been a most effectiveness research tool for all 3 grade levels. I highly recommend it. My subscription runs from September to June and it costs approx. $380.00 for the entire school. Very inexpensive for such a powerful research tool that includes a bib engine, A search engine with evaluated sources and a virtual note taking environment. I highly recommend it.

-
Ms. Faust - Thank you! We have a little over 2,000 students in the HS. Is the subscription based on number of students? Or is it a flat rate?
- Sep 17, 2012
-
Ms. Davitz - I just found my invoice, it actually was $340.00 for the period of 9/30/12 - 6/30/13. can't seem to find a cost on their site. You can call them or e-mail them to ask price. I have found them to be very quick in their responses to my questions and concerns. Here is my sales contact: Sales Person: Jessica Bacques

CALLING ALL BEGINNING TEACHERS!!!!!!!!
I created this group called Beginning Teachers. It is aimed as a platform for beginning teachers to help each other out, chat to each other and swap resources.
Please feel free to invite other beginning teachers (approximately 0-5 years experience.) We currently have members of the group with 6 and 7 years experience, so we are not very strict on experience! Also if you have twitter/other social networks, feel free to pass on the message. The more, the merrier!!
I thought it would be a good platform to help each other out. The Join URL is:
