My 4th grade team has recently found study stack and really enjoy it! We use it to help the students review for the upcoming 4th grade Social Studies SOL. I wanted to share another resource we have used throughout the year to help the students prepare for the VA Studies SOL. I hope that you can use this!

I'm new to StudyStack and was wondering if and how we can use a study stack in the featured content with our students. Specifically, how would I take it to their Edmodo page? Thanks.
    • StudyStack - 1. On Studystack.com find the activity that you would like included on edmodo
      2. Below the activity you will see a light gray box that says Embed Code
      3. Copy the text from the darker gray box that is inside the light gray box
      4. In Edmodo go to your Collection page
      5. Then click Add
      6. Then click on "Link"
      7. In the top input box that says "http:// or <embed>", paste the text that you copied in step 3
      8. Enter a title and description and then click "Add"

I am trying to make a study stack where I have students label a diagram. I am having trouble with dragging the line from the label to the diagram. The line doesn't appear. I am clicking on the small green diamond below the label and getting the diamond to the diagram, but the line is not showing up. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help with this? I am trying to creat cards for foodchains and food webs. Thank you.
    • StudyStack - I think this is an incompatibility between some versions of Internet Explorer and StudyStack. If you can try this out in a different browser (I like Chrome) I don't think you will have this problem.

      • Mar 14, 2013
    • Ms. Spears - Will my students have the same issue with not seeing the line when they play the games if they are using Internet Explorer? That is the only option for them at school.

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty embedding links to Edmodo? When I embed, the far right of the screen is cut off, meaning that you can't read the whole definition of the word during Bug Match, or you can't access all the options in regular flash card mode. I'm going to try and embed one of my stacks here to see if we can replicate the problem.

I've messed with several parts of the code like the overflow options and the screen width but it keeps cutting off a the same point. That suggests to me it's some deeper problem with the coding and not just with the options.

      • Mrs. Marshburn - Can someone explain study stack for me?

        • Sep 19, 2012
      • StudyStack - StudyStack brings the concept of old index card based flashcards to the web. Anyone can create flashcards online and share them with anyone else. The website lets you study the flashcards online much like you would with real flashcards. In addition the site takes the same data that was entered for the flashcards and creates several other activities, such as scrambled word, crossword, matching, hangman, etc. You can find a couple videos about studystack and answers to frequently asked questions about studystack at -

    • Mrs. Stone - question: I'm trying to embed a study stack I made into my Edmodo page and its too big. I tried to reduce the height and width and now things are cut off. (can't see the timer, etc on the right side) How do I reduce the window (or the contents of the window)? I tried the small size embed code, the window is still not centered and things are cut off.

I sometimes have my students collaborate on the IWB in front of my class to make study cards for other classes to use. This not only builds resources, but it gets the students thinking about the topics they are learning in a deeper way. They have to rephrase and rethink the information they have found on the topics. It seems to help and they enjoy creating the materials.
    • StudyStack - Great idea!!! Let me know if you or your students have suggestions on what would make the site better.

    • Mr. Salvucci - Thank you, and I will ask them for input throughout the school year.

    CALLING ALL BEGINNING TEACHERS!!!!!!!!

I am a beginning teacher (been in the job for 1 term) and thought it was good to create this group called Beginning Teachers. It is aimed as a platform for beginning teachers to help each other out, chat to each other and swap resources.

Please feel free to invite other beginning teachers (approximately 0-5 years experience.) We currently have members of the group with 6 and 7 years experience, so we are not very strict on experience! Also if you have twitter/other social networks, feel free to pass on the message. The more, the merrier!!

I thought it would be a good platform to help each other out. The group code is: gcek2h.
    See you there!!

Have just discovered Study Stack and it is absolutely great! Love the fact it ties in with Edmodo and smart phones - have never found a website with so many uses!
    • Ms. Ward - I love it too! You can embed the Study Stack games into the Edmodo library. The kids love to play them. I have them turn in some kind of activity with each one. For example, if they do the word unscramble then I have them type about 1/2 the words they unscrambled in the comment box. They are learning to bring some scrap paper and a pencil with them when they do the project. Good start on notetaking skills.

      • Ms. Jamieson 简莲 - I've tried embedding games but I don't seem to be having much luck - I'm adding the links in assignments and notes (like the bug game) but when I click on them they don't move and work. Can anyone help?

        • Mar 25, 2012
      • Mr. Salvucci - @Ms. Jamieson, where are you getting the Study Stack embed code from. I had a glitch earlier this year, it was a school filter/Java issue on my class laptop. However when I took a different embed code for the same info, I opened a different view of the cards, they worked. I also had to put the embed codes into a folder and share the folder instead of placing the code right into my main class feed, once due to Filter issues.
