    Did you know....that George Washington was born in Virginia on February 11, 1731, according to the then-used Julian calendar. In 1752, however, Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar, which placed Washington's birth on February 22, 1732. Wow!

    Did you know… on this day in 1831, Union General John Rawlins was born in Galena, Illinois? Rawlins was a close personal aide to General Ulysses S. Grant and was reported to have kept Grant from drinking heavily during the war.

    Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, predicting 6 more weeks of winter! The folks in Punxstawney, PA have been celebrating Groundhogs day for 126 years. A typical groundhog lives 6-8 years, but city officials swear Phil is the original due to a special 'elixir' he drinks each year! So don't put those snow things away yet... Winter is sticking around!
