Extra Credit Opportunity. Do a book review on: 'The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior' by Paul Strathern - washingtonpost.com

Mr. O'Harra - This looks like an excellent book and fits right in with our upcoming Renaissance unit. Feel free to read it and review its merits in a sophisticated book review. I think I'm going to try and lay my hands on it. (12 hours ago)

I found this liquid like thing, called non-newton fluid, and when allowed to flow freely it's like a liquid. But if you punch it, or force fully interact with it, its turns into a solid. It's pretty cool, and when it's vibrated it flows. It's a mixture of cornstarch and water me thinks.

William L. - If you want to try and make it, go ahead. It's realy easy. Just mix like a 1/10 ratio of water to cornstarch. Alot of cornstarch mixed with a little bit of water should do it. When your finished it should look like puddy. (13 hours ago)

Mr. Ryan - That sounds similar to the stuff the scientist in 2057 was making to repel bullets. It had iron fragments or something in it and stood rigid when something hard impacted it. (8 minutes ago)

Due: Feb 12, 2010

Hi A day classes. Now that we are missing another day of school on Wednesday I need to give you an assignment (sorry!)

What I would like you to do is read the rest of Act 2 of Romeo and Juliet. You can use No Fear Shakespeare as a back-up: http://nfs.sparknotes.com/romeojuliet/page_96... and complete a Bard Banter finding at least one quote for each of our four themes (love and marriage, rebellion, dichotomy and paradox, and identity). Turn in your Bard Banter here (below where it says "turn in")

Louie K. - I don't really understand the theme of Water Names, it really just sounds like a fiction story. (11 hours ago)

Mr. Lopez - As I was reading it, I thought that the grandma was more connected to the story than first thought...maybe she was telling a story about herself... Remember the line about her wanting her family to not forget Chinese? Something tells me that that's the theme... (10 hours ago)

Rate your group - debate

Due: Feb 9, 2010

Based on their participation during the debate, rate your group in the following fashion:

-Rate each person on a scale of 0-5, 5 being the highest rating.
-Include comments explaining why you rated each person.
-Remember to rate yourself.

Example:
Bob leBob: 4/5. Bob did a great job coming up with counter arguments. I wish he would have participated in our practice debates more.

Khrystl Vowelless: 1/5. Khrystl did not really participate much. She had a few ideas, but mostly she just goofed off and played with her pencil.

Bert Turtle (me): 4/5. I did a good job and came up with many of our arguments. However, I could have worked harder on the counter arguments.
