About Mrs. Barbara Callahan
I teach Science in the 6th grade. This is my 11th year as a full time teacher in Bellingham. As part of my professional experience, I have taught all subjects and various grade levels. As I earned a Master of Education degree from Framingham State University, I was reminded of the challenges students face as they learn difficult material. I share techniques for learning with my students that I found helpful to me. The various methods provide students with tools they may use to enable them to understand concepts easier.
I have two grown children, Ryan and Megan. Ryan lives on the Cape with his wife, Chelsea, and daughter, Natalie. Megan moved to Georgia with her husband, Gary last year. I also have two dogs, Toby and Calli. Toby is 7½ years old, and Calli will be 7 this October. They are cousins who are inseparable. I enjoy learning, and love spending time with my family and friends. Other interests I have include photography, writing, nature, dance, and travel.
My philosophy is we all learn from our mistakes and we grow from our reflections. Students will become independent thinkers if we allow them to make decisions. My goal is to help provide this, and as part of this result, students will learn how to cooperate with others in their community.
