About Kumu Kamaka Parker
Aloha and Welcome to Creative Media! I am excited to be your teacher and to help you to learn more about technology and how you can apply it to your every day learning!
A little about myself...
I have held various roles in education for 12 years now. Directly out of high school, I started in a summer enrichment program for Native Hawaiian children. After finishing my Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, I returned home to plan and implement out-of-school time programs for at-risk Native Hawaiian youth. I then went on to receive my Masters in Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University. While attaining my degree, I worked full time as a Coordinator/Trainer for the Kamehameha Schools Enrichment programs planning and implementing place and culture-based programs for middle school aged children. After 5 years as a Coordinator/Trainer, I transitioned into the classroom in which I taught 2 years of Introduction to Computer Technology and currently teach a course called Creative Media at Kamehameha Middle School. To further my education and understanding of technology, I enrolled in the Masters of Education in Instructional Media program at Wilkes University and completed the program in 2011. Through all of my experiences, my love for mentoring and supporting children in their learning continues to guide me as an educator. My hope is that Edmodo will support me in the process!
