About Mrs. Debi Weaver
I grew up in Weirton, West Virginia. I have a wonderful husband who is the Associate Pastor at Eagle Nazarene Church and three fabulous daughters whose names all start with the letter "J". Speed walking with my dog, biking, outside games with friends and family, inside games with friends and family, and reading are my favorite activities.
I have TONS of energy and excitement, and I LOVE to encourage students while teaching or tutoring math!
At Rocky Mountain High Schoo, I get to teach Honors Algebra II, Math Analysis, and Algebra I. I am the Math Department Chair, the adviser for the National Honor Society, and the adviser for Student Venture.
**I give my students a two week calendar which says what we are doing in class and what is for homework. Quizzes and Tests are highlighted, so they can plan accordingly.
**I do every problem I assign my students. This preparation not only provides a 3-ring binder that my students can check their work against, but it enables me to quickly address all the “tricky” spots as we go over homework. This practice also helps me estimate how long the students will take to do their assignments, and it ensures that I only assign relevant, “good” problems.
**I do every problem on the board that the students request from their homework assignments. I encourage them to correct their papers and learn from their mistakes.
**I invite the students to go home, cover up what they wrote from the board, and redo all of the homework problems that they missed. This is the learning activity that solidifies the learning and builds their confidence.
