I have wanted to be a teacher since 4th grade. At first, I thought I would like to work with kids with disabilities such as the deaf or hearing impaired. I also considered being a speech teacher which led me to the University of Virginia. However, after two years there I settled on regular education. I transferred to VCU so I could go to school in the summers and graduate early. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education in 3 years.

I worked for 9 years for Henrico County, stayed home for awhile with my 3 children and resumed my career with Chesterfield at Jacobs Road Elementary where I currently teach Kindergarten. I have taught 4 years in 2nd grade, 19 years in Kindergarten and 8 years in first grade for a grand total of 31 years!.

I love the 5-6 year old. It is exciting to be their very first teacher and to nurture in them a passion for learning.
