About Mrs. Kristy Kelnhofer

Welcome to 5th grade - where the education of your child is our priority!!!

I received my bachelor's degree in education from the USC Aiken program located here in Beaufort in May of 1991. In February of 2004, I received my master's degree in technology in education from Lesley University. I am currently endorsed to teach G/T (gifted and talented), and I hold 'highly qualified' certification in early childhood education, elementary education, and middle level language arts, as well as certification in middle school social studies.

I began my career teaching 1st grade at James J. Davis Elementary School in Dale, SC. In 1993, I transferred to Lady's Island Middle School to teach 6th and 7th grade social studies and reading. I moved to Beaufort Middle School when it opened in 2001 to teach 6th and 8th grade international studies. While there, I also taught 7th and 8th grade world literature, 7th grade tech tips, and 6th and 7th grade language arts. I came to Mossy Oaks Elementary School for the 2008-2009 school year, and I currently teach 5th grade ELA and G/T.

My husband, Art, and I came to Beaufort as a result of orders from the United States Marines. We fell in love with Beaufort and have lived in the Mossy Oaks area since 1982. All three of our daughters graduated from Beaufort High School, and all eight of our grandchildren (ranging in age from 9 to 18) have attended public school in Beaufort. One of our granddaughters currently attends Beaufort High School, two participate in the SC Virtual Academy, and two attend Beaufort Middle School along with our grandson, and our youngest granddaughter is in 5th grade with me here at Mossy Oaks! Our oldest granddaughter is a freshman at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC, where studies sports medicine and plays softball for the Limestone Lady Saints!

I enjoy reading, cruising, spending time with my husband, our three daughters, 7 granddaughters, and 1 grandson, and supporting my favorite sports teams (the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Braves, USC Gamecocks, Limestone College Saints, BMS Gryphons, BHS Eagles, and Carolina Badkatz!
