Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Jessica Walrath and this is my 14th year teaching. I have taught 2nd grade at M.C. Riley for the past 6 years. Before that I taught 2nd and 3rd grade in two different NYC schools. I have been married to my husband James for 8 years. We have known each other for 15 years. We have two children-Alexis (3 years), and Preston who is in Ms. Bobbitt's class is 6 years old. We are expecting our third child this December!!!

Originally from Queens, New York, I attended the State University of New York at Cortland. I got my first teaching job at P.S. 64 in Manhattan when I graduated. It was fun commuting into the city every day and meeting lots of eccentric people. While working toward receiving my Masters degree at Stony Brook University, I transferred to P.S. 36 in the Bronx.


I love teaching and believe that all students have the ability to learn. Learning should be a fun experience where children can interact with each other in cooperative groups. I hope to instill a love of reading ( I LOVE reading…English was my minor in college).
