I have have been an elementary and secondary classroom teacher and PreK-12th grade literacy specialist in California, Illinois, Michigan, New York and overseas for the Department of Defense Schools in Germany and Okinawa. I taught reading/literacy education courses for Michigan State University, The University of Michigan, and the University of California-Irvine before retiring in 2007. I currently teach part-time at Concordia University-Irvine.

I am privileged to focus on my passion and commitment to engaging educators and families as partners in supporting children in everyday literacy experiences linked to education standards and expectations.

My presentations to schools, the community, and professional organizations focus on standards-based family literacy strategies supported reading/literacy strategies that are fun and fit into our everyday lives.
