Welcome to the tenth year anniversary of opening Okatie Elementary! We have an owlstanding year planned for out third grade owlets. I am especially excited to be joining the third grade team! Although I am originally from the homestate of Virginia, I have made the Lowcountry my home for 25 years. After graduating with a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois, I returned to my home state of Virginia, where I taught in Fairfax County for 12 years My husband, Edward, and I moved to Hilton Head Island in 1988. After teaching at Hilton Head Elementary for 10 years, I transferred to Bluffton Elementary eagerly awaiting the opening of Okatie Elementary in 2003. I enjoy making learning fun and challenging my students to be the best they can be. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach at Okatie Elementary, where we are “Spreading our Wings and Learning new Things.” We pride ourselves in offering a safe environment conducive for learning and developing the potential of all children to be contributing members of society.
Favorite books: A Dog’s Life by Ann M. Martin, the autobiography of a stray, and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate DiCamillo
If I weren't teaching: I would be working at an Animal Shelter or helping to rescue abandoned animals.
In my free time, you can find me walking the beach or the golf course with my Golden & Labrador Retrievers.
