About Melissa McCoy

Hello! My name is Melissa McCoy! Background: I grew up in rural Southeast, KS in the small town of Cherryvale where hometown pride is thick and the people are amazing! I have a wonderful family that I love spending time with...it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Education: After graduation, I went to Pittsburg State University where I threw track and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. I earned a bachelors of science in elementary education. I have went on to earn a masters of science in adaptive and function special education K-12 and am currently working on my building leadership certificate from Pittsburg State as well. Job: I began my teaching career with Kansas City Kansas Public Schools at John F. Kennedy Elementary where I was a Student Learning Center teacher grades 3-5. I have been a special education teacher leader for the past two years, supporting the SLC classrooms for the Wyandotte and Harmon Clusters.
