About Mrs. Kellie Perkins

I teach Visual Art and love to see the light come on when a student really gets it in a learning experience! My joy is to see students excel and use their imaginations along with their critical thinking processes by creating an artwork they never envisioned they could design and produce!

I am the Co-Coach of the FTS Forensic Team and Co-advise the FTS National Art Honor Society.

I earned my BFA with a concentration in Sculpture at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I am a National Board Certified Visual Art Teacher, and I attained my Masters in Art Education with a concentration in Painting at the University of North Carolina at Pemboke.

I am a Kenan Fellow, class of 2013, partnered with North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI) professional development consultants. I will join local North Carolina DPI content specialists and Kenan Fellows from across the state to help develop blended teacher training supporting effective delivery of the new Common Core and Essential Standards, Teachers Training Teachers: Delivering Innovative Multimedia Curriculum Resources. I am tasked with supporting NCDPI’s intensive, blended professional development initiative focused on the transition from the current Standard Course of Study to the new Common Core and Essential Standards. This opportunity puts me on the cutting edge of North Carolina’s planned implementation of these new standards for all content areas during the 2012-2013 school year.
