About Mrs. Tara Marcum

About the Teacher

Credentials and Personal Information
This will be my 21st year in education. I taught at Kingstree Elementary for 4 years, Oak Grove Elementary for 4 years and Lexington Middle for 6. I have been at PHMS since it opened seven years ago.
I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina. I received a Master's Degree from Francis Marion University in Children At-Risk In Education. I have my Master's - plus 30 hours. I have taken additional course work at USC, Converse, and Furman. According to the No Child Left Behind Act, I am highly qualified to teach 6th grade Math. I am endorsed to teach Gifted and Talented from The State Department.

I am looking forward to a great year with you! My favorite place to vacation is Edisto Island. I enjoy reading, decorating, gardening, traveling and spending time with my family and friends. My husband Eddie and I have been blessed with two children, Abigayle ( soon to be 6) and Reese ( soon to be 8).

Homework
Homework will be given Monday-Thursday. Homework is practice of what was studied in class and will eventually be seen on quizzes and tests. Homework generally begins at the end of class and is a reasonable amount of problems/practice. It should take less than 20 minutes as I know there are many after school activities.

Study Group
My study sessions are every Tuesday at 7:40 in room 214. We will go over any questions that the students are having. The student just needs to come that morning with a plan of what we are to do together (questions).
