I graduated from Francis Marion College in 1990 with a B.A. in Political Science and certified to teach Secondary Social Studies. Then I went to grad school at USC to earn my M.Ed. in Special Education in 1992 (+30 hours), gaining certification to teach students with Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and Educable and Trainable Mental Disabilities. I've also earned National Board Certification (2006) as an Exceptional Needs Specialist in Early Childhood through Young Adulthood. For 21 years I've had the privilege of working with students who have learning difficulties...18 years right here at Gilbert Middle School! In addition to GMS, I've worked at GHS, Columbia High School, and E.L. Wright Middle School.
I've been blessed to have a very understanding husband who also works in the field of special education and two awesome kids who are in high school and elementary school. We love spending time with our extended family, trips to Santee, vacations in the mountains or at the beach, activities with our church groups...or just hanging out at home!
