About Ms. Anne Peterson
I am Anne Peterson. I am your child’s resource teacher this year. I am teaching reading and writing resource. The students’ individual education plan (IEP) dictates their goals which will be implemented throughout the year. I will be using SRA Reading and Writing Programs for instruction in my classroom. We work on skills as well to be successful in school (for example, study tips). The resource class is NOT a homework completion class. It is also not a tutoring class for general education classes. However, the general education teachers offer help sessions before and/or after school to help with clarification.
I received my bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut University in New Britain, Connecticut. I have a MBA from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts. In 2001, I completed my Master’s in Elementary Education and Special Needs from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I taught in the Natick and Framingham Massachusetts Public Schools before coming to South Carolina. This is my fifth year at Pleasant Hill Middle School. I am certified in Early Elementary Education, Elementary Education, Middle School English, Middle School Social Studies, and Multi-Categorical Special Education. I am highly qualified according to the No Child Left Behind Act.
My husband Scott and I have three children (Aidan-10, Ella-9, Isabel-6). Life is never dull in the Peterson house! I enjoy running, hiking, dancing mand anything outdoors. I was named Pleasant Hill Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2012. In addition, I was a finalist for the Lexington School District One- Teacher of the Year. I was a National Champion Irish Step Dancer through my teens and twenties! My family and I love living in South Carolina!
As a normal classroom policy, I will not assign homework, but there are times when we do a special project throughout the school year. Progress will be monitored weekly in my class, after skills are taught and reviewed. Each grade will weigh equally when averaged for interims and report cards.
My e-mail address is apeterson@lexington1.net. My phone number at school is tel:tel:tel:821-2700. I am in the portables. My portable is number 601.. Please feel free to contact me as needed with any questions. I check my e-mail and phone messages regularly. I am happy to meet with you by appointment at any time. You MUST check in at the front office before entering the school at anytime.
It is important that your child complete his/her studies at home nightly. Students will typically have to study 15 minutes a night in science and social studies to do well in those classes. This is not “assigned” on the board in core classes, but it is very important that your child do this to be successful in school!
I will strive for excellence in the class room! With your support and the student’s dedication to improve their overall education experience, I have no doubt that we will have a productive year.

Cordially,
Anne M. Peterson
