I am in my twentieth year of teaching, and my 13th year being a Pikeville Panther. I am originally from Prestonsburg, and graduated from Western Kentucky University with degrees in journalism and history, and from the University of Kentucky with Master's degrees in History and Education. I am a social studies teacher because I want our kids to be active, engaged citizens in US society and our global society. No matter what a person may do as a career, he or she will always be a citizen, and to be a good citizen one must know about important issues worldwide, the variety of people in the world, and the different ways individuals can interact in and with government and society. That is my goal for our students at Pikeville High School.
