About Mr. Jay Turner

Dear Student and parent,

Welcome to our edmodo site. The purpose of this site is to enhance student learning through collaboration and communication. It is my hope that it will help my students stay organized via the calendar section and serve as a place where we can learn from one another. It also serves as a way for me to pass out documents for students to download. To help navigate through edmodo, students should look for teacher posts on the button on the left side under their profile picture that says "Latest Posts". I find edmodo a fun way for us to discuss history and school topics and safe place for students to participate in an educational social media and a way to provide incentives for learning via edmodo badges.

The rules of my edmodo class rely on respect for one another's opinions and ideas. This is a safe and positive environment and I reserve the right to delete posts I deem inappropriate, offensive, or mean. Students who continually violate the spirit of cooperation and harmony will lose their ability to post to edmodo and be relegated to 'read only' status. That said, I expect our experience to be a positive one that you will enjoy and find fun.

I have been teaching for 17 years and have taught 7/8th grade English and 7/8th grade history. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a B.A. in English and I have my M.A. in Education Administration and teaching credential from Concordia University Irvine. I am married and my wife and I have two sons. My hobbies include reading, outdoor activities, cooking, and exploring new places. I try to live my live according to the code of Bushido and have a personal historical focus on Colonial America, the U.S. Civil War, Native American Plains Tribes, Ancient Rome and Feudal Japan.

Warmest regards,

Jay Turner, McPherson Magnet School
