About Ms. Norma Derosa

My name is Norma Derosa. I just joined Torrington Public Schools.

I have BA in Education, from the University of Puerto Rico, MA in Bilingual and Multicultural Education at Fairfield University, MA in Theology from West Virginia University, 12 credits in Spanish Literature from Central University and I am planning to work towards my 6Th year degree in Education.

I have been a teacher for 30 years between Puerto Rico and the United States.

As a Second Language learner is easier for me to relate to my students needs. The strategies that I am using to teach Spanish reinforces other content areas such as English and History.

Also, in order to aid my students in acquiring a second language, I am using different activities and aides as; overhead, television, videos, compact disc's, computerize listening activities, visual activities, interactive games, group activities, Spanish speaking peers assistance and my constant supervision of their progress are some learning methods used to help my students grasp the Spanish Culture and the Language.

I am trained in Differentiated Instruction Education by Dr. Cornier, and Collings Writting by Dr. Gary b. Chadwell.
