About Mrs. Aimee Sutton
Welcome to the 2011-2012 School year at Riverton Elementary School.
My name is Aimee Sutton and I am one of the Reading Specialists at the Elementary School.
A little bit about me. I graduated from Chatham Glenwood High School. I went to Springfield College in Illinois, where I also played two years of Volleyball. I attended the University of Illinois at Springfield where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Visual arts with a minor in Elementary Education. Finally I attended Benedictine University at Sprinfield where I earned my Masters Degree in Reading Literacy. I have previously taugh Kindergarten, 4th grade, and Art. Before moving to Riverton I taught in Springfield School District 186 for four years. This is my 3rd year of being a Reading Specialist at Riverton. I also teach Master Level Reading Literacy classes at Benedictine University in Springfield.
I played volleyball in middle school, high school, and even had the opportunity to play for two years in college. I have coached at Springfield Southeast High School, Jefferson Middle School, Springfield High School, and Riverton Middle and High School. I love the game of volleyball and sharing it with young friends.
A little bit about my family. I have a small family. My husband's name is Benji. He is a Riverton native. He graduated from here and some of his teachers still work in the district. We have a son that will be in his 2nd year of Pre-K here at the Elementary School. We are lucky that both of our parents live close and our son gets to see his grandparents often.
I love teaching. I dreamed when I was little that I would teach. I am so grateful that I work at such a great district with so many fantastic educators.
