Mr. Valdez was born in Southern California and raised in Ventura County. He
is a graduate of Oxnard High School and University of California, Davis where
he received his B.A. with majors in English and philosophy. He received his
teaching credential from California State University, Channel Islands. He
has been serving in various capacities within the Oxnard Union High School
District since 2007 and joined the Pacifica High School English Department in
2010. He feels very lucky to be teaching at such a wonderful school.

Noam Chomsky, and Howard Zinn

His favorite movies include: The Shawshank Redemption, Gattaca, Rushmore,
Star Wars, and The Sandlot

His favorite musical artists include: Jeff Buckley, My Bloody Valentine,
Slowdive, Blackalicious, and The Clientele

His favorite TV shows include: The Simpsons, The Wire, Battlestar Galactica,
Star Trek TNG and DS9, The Office, The X-Files, and Mad Men

When not teaching, he enjoys anything done outdoors, lifting weights,
traveling outside the country, and spending time with his family.
