About Mrs. Melody Twigg
Although my primary responsibility at Riverton Middle School entails providing special education services to those students diagnosed with a variety of learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, emotional disorders, etc., I am also a 5th grade homeroom teacher. I currently have 33 years of teaching experience with 28 of these years having been acquired at Riverton. Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I look forward to working with this new group of students as much as I did the first group that entered my first classroom.
This school year, I am responsible for teaching reading, writing, and math in collaborative 5th grade settings, teaching reading strategies to a group of 6th grade special education students, and monitoring an inclusive study hall one period a day. My philosophy is that all students can learn and be successful when given the appropriate tools and instruction to meet their individuals needs and differences, as long as the students are willing to put forth the effort needed to utilize these tools/knowledge to their advantage. For this reason, I have high expectations of my students and work hard to make them responsible learners and hold them accountable for their learning.
Should you have any questions as the year progresses, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. My school phone number is 629-6002, extension 228, and my email address is mtwigg@rivertonschools.org. Parents and teachers working together is yet another important formula to your child's success.
