About Ms. Breanna Jatzlau

The 2010-2011 school year was my first year teaching, and I taught the brand new course of Forensic Science. For this coming year, I will be teaching both Chemistry and Forensic Science.

I have a BS in Chemistry from Texas A&M University (Gig 'em, Aggies! Whoop!) and a MS in Forensic Science from Sam Houston State University with an emphasis in Forensic Toxicology. During my years as a graduate student, I was involved in research on a DOJ grant-funded project involving psychedelic designer amphetamines, and I also gained experience by working in the Toxicology Department of the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office (now known as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences).

I am passionate about science and forensic science; when I went to begin my time at Sam, I told my parents I was studying to be a superhero, but, instead of a cape, I'd be wearing a lab coat. I love sharing my passion with others, especially my students.

My interests outside of forensic science include theatre (both acting and attending), writing, spending time with my family and my furry, four-legged child (a hilarious miniature Dachshund), and experimental cooking.
