I am truly excited to teach your child this year! I am in my 13th year teaching. Prior to teaching, I worked as a police officer and a juvenile deliquency case manager. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in history and my Masters in Exceptional/Gifted Education from the University of Central Florida. I also taught gifted education classes at Florida Southern College in Orlando for several years.
I am married (beginning our 26th year!) and I have two children. My daughter Kristiaan graduated from Ridgeview High School and is a junior at Clemson majoring in Food Science. My son is a Junior at Spring Valley High School; he is a pole vaulter on the track team and is one of the leaders on SVH's National Champion JAFROTC Drill Team. He has trained for 3 years with the US Air Force Presidential Honor Guard and is a student pilot- he soloed this past July! We have three dogs- a golden retriever, yorky-poo, and a cocker spaniel.
History, travel, and politics are my passions- I love to share all three with my students.
