I was inspired to teach from the actions of some teachers I had growing up. Some were rude and uncaring. Others took time to find out what your interests are and open doors for you to explore those interests. I wanted to be like the latter educators. I initially went into Education for the Deaf/Communicative Disorders and switched over to Special Education-Learning Handicapped. I have been teaching in Special Education for 31 years: Special Day Class, Resource Specialist and Full Inclusion. I have been a Mentor Teacher for Special Education and Professional Growth.
