About Mrs. Heather Renaud

I currently teach 7th and 8th grade social studies. Seventh grade social studies focuses on World History and eighth grade social studies is centered around United States history through the Civil War & Reconstruction.

Additionally, my goal since graduating from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education has been to continue educating myself in ways in which to empower students within their local and global communities, so that they can become active, engaged global citizens. My teaching philosophy is one that embraces inquiry, diversity, global education and 21st century skills, the nurturing of creativity and individuality within students and the development of students’ critical thinking and responsible decision-making skills. As a result, Ms. Nemerofsky and I run a YPAR (Youth Participatory Action Research) program after school called Youth in Action. Our students presented their research and action plan at Rutgers University in May.
