Cyndi Powell-Skellie is an experienced social studies and theatre arts educator for Shelby County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre Education with a minor in History from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education with an Endorsement in Gifted and Talented from Georgetown College. An award-winning director of over 25 children’s theatre and high school theatre productions, she was named ExCel Teacher of the Year in 2003, was a Business and Professional Women’s Young Careerist in 1999, and in 2005 was awarded the Intellectual Freedom Award by the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English. An active member of Kentucky Education Association and National Education Association, she has served as co-president of her local education association and speaks out for public educators across the state. She enjoys spending time with her children, Alexandra, Wilson and Maggie.
