About Cheryl Blaylock

I am a Secretary for the Department of Instruction and have been with the district (this time) since October of 2007. I worked for the district previously for five years leaving in 1993 when my third of four boys was born. I worked at Burchell when it was housed where Mat-Su Central is now and prior to that I worked with the Community Schools program.

I take care of the My Learning Plan (MLP) data base which is our professional development tracking system. It's web based so it can be accessed from anywhere thus you don't have to be on a district computer to check your portfolio, sign up for a class or training, submit a Travel Authorization (TA), or approve activities.

I assist the Ed Tech's and am actually housed with them in the office next to the Dept of Instruction so if you're needing to get in touch with Brett Hill, Stephen Anderson, Rick Meyerhofer, or Steve Krueger and can't reach them give me a call and I can try to assist you.

One of the more fun projects I'm involved in is SAMS which is our Summer Academy in the Mat-Su for educators. This four day event is held the week after school lets out in May and is open to educators state wide.

I also help with Mandated Training (MT) which is training that's mandated by the State of Alaska and is monitored by our Human Resources departement. I can help walk you through the steps and you can call me if you need your MLP logon information as this is where the MT is listed. The training modules will be on the Q: drive for your building but we use MLP as the tracking tool.
